Why covered bridges?  Besides our liking the sound of our bikes while we ride through them, the covered bridge is a significant historic structure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. With an estimated 200 covered bridges, Pennsylvania has the most of these magnificent structures remaining. Not only is the sheer number important, but the first known U.S. covered bridge crossed the Schuylkill River at 30th Street in Philadelphia. Bucks County currently has 12 covered bridges still standing
